THE EXPERIENCE OF CO-HOSTING WAS VERY INSIGHTFUL, YET FUN: Season Three of Adjusted featured seasoned and brand-new co-hosts. While there is an outline for each episode, it is kept conversational. It is not scripted, like reality TV. The goal is to get to know the individuals that are being interviewed. They all agreed that the experience is like “having a discussion with buddies.”  The biggest takeaway that each of them had was that interviewing allowed them to be exposed to the people in our industry who are making an impact.

IT IS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS:  The average episode takes about four hours of editing to remove sirens in the background, dogs barking, and other little details affecting sound quality. There are times that technology may freeze during an interview, and editing is needed to make it flawless. There are times that a guest may veer off track during the interview and take it down an unexpected road. The interviewer has to be fast on their feet to guide the guest back on track.

SEASON THREE HAD A FEW “FIRSTS”:  During Season Three, our host, Greg Hamlin, became the interviewee for the first time during the Season Three Premiere. It is a very inspiring story and shows the importance of resilience. Life sometimes throws curveballs, but you must be able to pivot. It is crucial to view adversity as an opportunity for something better to happen. Season Three was also the first time we had one of our own injured workers tell their story of overcoming a Traumatic Brain Injury in Episode 37. His name is Jamie Odom, and his story shows the humanity of insurance. Our injured workers are so much more than a claim; they have families and loved ones, and their injury has turned their lives upside down. When his injury initially occurred, it was unknown at the time if he would survive. He not only survived but has thrived post-injury. His story empathizes the importance of a positive mindset and how it impacts recovery.

THE GOAL OF SEASON THREE:  It was very important to show the vantage point of people that are making a difference in the insurance industry yet are not working at a carrier. They work with carriers, but they see things from a different point of view. Their focus is on the current needs in the industry and how to improve processes. Some of our guests are trying to make an impact with technology, such as Plenty, which assists injured workers with their home exercises, so they can make better recoveries. Some of our guest’s work starts when the claim is ending, such as Arcadia, which offers structured settlements to injured workers, or Ametros, which provides MSA custodial accounts. Season Three also addressed the current talent gap in the insurance industry, with the episodes featuring Tandeka Nomvete and Chris Moore. Each episode candidly discussed what changes are needed to attract and retain employees in our industry. It was very important to show how there are people in our industry who want to facilitate change and make things better.

SEASON FOUR IS COMING SOON! There will be two “best of” episodes, where Greg’s favorite quotes from prior episodes will be released prior to the launch of Season Four. There are some great episodes lined up, and they have already started recording. One of the episodes will feature an economist’s perspective of worker’s compensation, which has not been previously showcased. Thank you to all of our listeners, and please join us for Season Four!!
