THE CONSENSUS AMONG OUR CO-HOSTS WAS THAT THEIR EXPERIENCE WAS FUN, AND MEANINGFUL: The process starts with a rough outline, but it is not scripted. Many of our co-hosts were nervous at first, but then they forgot they were being recorded. They realized that they were not conducting an interview; they were having a conversation. It felt very natural to them; like having a discussion with friends. They each agreed they would gladly co-host again.

ONE OF THE GOALS OF SEASON TWO WAS TO BRING STORIES THAT WERE NOT JUST ABOUT THE INSURANCE SIDE:  While the podcast showcases the different specialties, and changes that are needed to the Worker’s Compensation Industry, we also wanted to highlight the stories of people who experienced a catastrophic injury, an amputation, or a struggle with drug addiction. Some of our guests did not have a worker’s compensation injury, but they had to overcome a life-changing event. They struggled physically, mentally, and spiritually. They were very candid about their experiences, and it was very eye-opening, and inspiring.

SEASON TWO ALSO HIGHLIGHTED HOW “THE LITTLE THINGS” CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE: Sometimes making small changes, such as providing direct phone numbers to adjusters, or having a warmer tone to our contact letters, can make a huge impact. When we return calls the same day, or have a live person answer the phone, we are building trust, and showing them that we care. We started sending cookies to our injured workers who were surgical, or had a setback to recovery, to convey that we are here to help them. Treating people with respect, and showing empathy in all that we do, really makes an impact, and can produce better outcomes.

THERE WERE SOME PLEASANT SURPRISES TOO:  Episodes that highlighted Medicare Compliance, and the career of an Insurance Actuary might have seemed like drier subjects to discuss, but they were very interesting episodes!  The guests were very knowledgeable, and were able to take complex subjects, and make them easy to understand. They were also very passionate about what they do, and that was conveyed during the conversations with them.  We received wonderful feedback on these episodes, and we all learned a lot.

SEASON THREE IS COMING SOON!  We will be having bonus episodes focusing on “culture and why it matters” from December until mid- January. Our listeners will get to see through the lens of our front-line employees, and find out what gives them meaning, and purpose in their work. Season Three will return mid-January. We are so excited about what the new season will bring, and we thank all of you for listening!!
